The offices of the Soyim Shisaluyimer Telongjem (SST) and the Ongpangkong Students’ Conference (OKM) have condemned the defaming post on the reputation and legacy former chief minister of Nagaland, SC Jamir by a Facebook page called ‘The Patriotic Nagas’.
In a press release, the SST, the organisation in which Dr Jamir served as the first General Secretary, stated that the “half filled thoughts as well as allegation” is uncalled for and asked the group “to keep your facts and figures correct because we feel you are not certain about what you are trying to state; for the reason that, from our end we are very poised about the Nagas, Nagaland or be it Nagalim.”
Additionally, the SST President Rongsen Timsong and General Secretary Imlitemjen T Lkr said that “malicious attempts to slay the character of our respected leader is unjustifiable and unwarranted” and demanded for ‘The Patriotic Nagas’ to declare its Administrator.
“Failure on the part of The Patriotic Nagas to confess the identity of the genesis of this slanderous post, the admin and the entire Group shall be held duly responsible for anyuntoward events and any other exigencies. This statement is a pressing matter and we shall not rest until due justice is delivered to the life and legacy of Dr. S.C Jamir,” it stated.
Meanwhile, the Office of the Ongpangkong Students’ Conference (OKM) too demanded that the group on Facebook “immediately reveal the identity of those responsible for this post, as it has brought grave dishonor to our Ao community.”
