A Special Programme for Senior Citizens was held at Town Hall, Tuensang, on September 25, organised by Shekinah Christian Foundation in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare.

The programme was organised to honour senior citizens and promote dignity, care, inclusion and greater awareness of their welfare and well-being. The event brought together senior citizens, government officials, community leaders and well-wishers.

The programme featured special songs, a poem recital, a drama, an awareness session on schemes for senior citizens under the Department of Social Welfare, a session on healthy lifestyle habits and an interactive open forum.

Dr Zujanbeni N Ngullie, NCS, EAC Tuensang, and Impongsotet Chang, President, Senior Citizens’ Forum Tuensang, shared words of encouragement and highlighted the importance of respecting, supporting and valuing the elderly in society. T Longlang Lakpan, District Welfare Officer, Tuensang spoke on various welfare schemes available for senior citizens.

The programme concluded with words of gratitude by Chipen Chang and a benediction by Thungpang Pastor, YBC Tuensang. A walkathon for senior citizens, from the Clock Tower to Town Hall, was also organised as part of the programme.
