A two-day Specialized Training for Mathematics and Science Teachers under Learning Enhancement Programme (LEP) for PM SHRI School Nagaland organised by the Department of School Education Nagaland got underway at SIEMAT-SCERT, Kohima on September 15.
Joint Mission Director, Samagra Nagaland, Dr. Kevizakie Rio, while addressing the teachers said the PM SHRI School Nagaland is an exemplary school since their performance are being directly monitored by the Prime Minister’s Office and urged the teachers to be seriously sincere in their duties.
Stating that Nagaland is placed as the worst result in math and science subject according to the National Achievement Survey, he asserted that it was a result of the students from Nagaland considering these subjects as very tough, creating fear psychosis and instead of learning the students ignored it resulting in degraded results.
He, therefore, expressed hope that the two-days Specialized Training for Mathematics and Science Teachers will be a fruitful interactive session through which our students will do well, as learning enhancement program will be implemented in PM SHRI School across the state of Nagaland.
He also noted that the key features of this training will be to identified class IX and X maths and science teachers to address subject-specific learning gaps and identified students through academic assessment and Board Examination performances.

He informed that due to poor performance of students in maths and science subjects, the training was to focus in the area for identification of foundational and conceptual learning gaps, strengthening core concept in maths and science, subject-specific remedial and learning enhancement strategies, use of learner-centred and activity-based teaching approaches, development and effective use of supplementary learning resources, strategies for improving problem-solving, analytical, and applicable application-based means for the preparation of students of Class X Board Examination.
Co-Founder & Principal Scientist ThinkTac, Dr Prochete Mallik spoke on Training Overview and highlighted that ThinkTac visit schools and work with teachers training them hands-on activities in the North-east and the North Bengal Area. He emphasized that hands-on activities with children from young age, especially through middle and high school enrich their hand skills and develop them to even make things very easily.
He informed that the two-day training will consist of 24 science topics and 10 maths topics with hands-on activities, formal sessions and teachers’ presentations.
While chairing the program, Dr Bijano Murry, Joint Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha & SNO PM SHRI Nagaland proposed the introduction and welcome address. The resource persons of the program were Co-Founder & Principal Scientist ThinkTac, Dr. Prochete Mallik, Gopinath, Kakoli and Priyanshu from ThinkTac.
The training was attended by 48 government teachers from 21 PM SHRI School Nagaland.
