A state level competition on energy conservation was held today at the Capital Convention centre in Kohima. As part of the national campaign to promote Energy conservation in the country the painting competition is being organised by Bureau Of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Govt. Of India and hosted by Doyang Hydro Power Station( DHPS), NEEPCO Ltd.
Speaking on occasion as the Chief Guest, Prof. Khumukchum Devananda Singh, Head Of Department, Department of Management, Nagaland University emphasised the need to use energy judiciously saying it is everyone’s collective social responsibility to conserve energy for the betterment of the future generation. Outlining the importance of time management, He underscored the need to prepare and follow a proper daily routine in student’s life. Pointing out that precious times are lost due to sleep which are more than required, Singh also stressed the need to be sagacious in using mobile phones.

In the Lower class category of the painting competition, Kanishka Bhattacharjee of Little Star higher secondary School of Dimapur bagged the first position, Khütülü of Eastern Christian Higher Secondary School Chouzuba secured second position while Lhuvese Medeo of Eastern Christian Higher Secondary School Chouzuba won the third position.
In the Higher class category of the painting competition, Nikito A Yeptho of Cornorstone school Zunheboto was adjudged the first position, Reeva Sharma of Hope Academy bagged the second position, Sudip Biswas of Don Bosco higher Secondary school won the third prize.
The first prize winners walked home with a 50 thousand cash prize award, the second prize winners bagged 30 thousand cash prize, the thrid prize winners won 20 thousand cash award while 20 participants won 7500 cash prize as consolation prizes.
The introductory remarks was delivered by Shri John Zeliang, Executive Director, DHPS. While the vote of thanks was proposed by Laishram Yaimaba Khuman, Deputy Manager (HR) and Nodal Officer.
