The Samagra Shiksha Nagaland organised the State Level Kala Utsav on 24th October 2024 at SIRD Kohima. Kala Utsav is a flagship programme of the Department of School Education and Literacy (DSE&L), Ministry of Education (MoE) that is aimed to initiate a comprehensive process of identifying, exploring, understanding, practicing, evolving and showcasing artistic talent of students, a press release from Samagra Shiksha Nagaland informed.
This annual event provides a platform for students to explore and celebrate arts and cultural diversity at various levels — school, district, state and national.
At the State Level formal program, Wonthungo Tsopoe, Director, School Education spoke on cultural values that students should imbibe, while State Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, Temsunaro Aier, IAS exhorted the students and highlighted on the Kala Utsav initiative of the Ministry as an important platform to display the rich heritage and culture of Nagaland. Officials from the Directorate of School Education, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, DEO Kohima also attended the program.
The program witnessed participation from the district winners for various competitions.
– Tribal Folk Vocal Music: Government High School, Khomi
– Tribal Folk Dance: Baptist Higher Secondary School, Jalukie
– Traditional Instrumental Music: NI Jamir Government Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung
– 2D Visual Art: Moanaro of Government Higher Secondary School, Diphupar-A
– Mono Act: P Chingmei Konyak of Government Higher Secondary School, Dimapur
– Traditional Storytelling: Leu Tsuzuh and Dzuzuh-o Venuh of Government Higher Secondary School, Phek
Winners will represent the State at the National Level Kala Utsav 2024 at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh in January 2025.
