Sümi Hoho issues notice to members associating with Naga Hoho

The Sümi Hoho, on March 18, has issued a notice to three of its members to disassociate from Naga Hoho. Failure to comply will result in Sümi Hoho initiating necessary actions, stated the President of Sümi Hoho.

The Notice mentioned that certain Sümi individuals has disregarded and intentionally violated the resolution of the Sümi Hoho and its affiliated organizations “by engaging in activities associated with the non-existent entity known as Naga Hoho, which holds no relevance for the Sümi and the tribes of Nagaland”.

The Sümi Hoho had publicly declared its dissociation from Naga Hoho on September 11, 2016, and subsequently recalled all Sümi representatives from Naga Hoho. “Furthermore, for their failure to comply with this resolution, Sümi Hoho debars certain Sümi members from participating in all social and religious activities and functions of the Sümi people for a period of six years, as per its resolution on September 12, 2019,” stated the Notice.

With recent reports indicating three of its members elected in several roles of Naga Hoho, the Sümi Hoho issued the notice to its members to officially withdraw from Naga Hoho. One of the members has also been directed to provide written clarification to the Sümi Hoho on or before March 26, 2024, failing which the apex organization of the Sümi community will initiate necessary actions.
