Sunep A Jamir’s Meteorite gets over 7 lakh views in less than 48 hrs since its release

“The experience is surreal,” says Sunep A Jamir after his song ‘Meteorite’ has garnered over seven lakh views on YouTube since its release by NEXA Music on Tuesday, with over four lakh views in the first 24 hours.

“I am having one of the best moments in my life, but I have to keep moving and try my best to achieve greater heights,” the musician from Nagaland added.

Sunep is one of the four super winners of NEXA Music Season 2 and the front man of a Mokokchung based band ‘Tune up Channel’.

Speaking about ‘Meteorite’, he said that the song was written and produced by the production team, but he could connect with the song just as his own song. “Many a times when it comes to project, the artist’s work is just to sing the song beautifully,” Sunep said.

The music for ‘Meteorite’ was composed and produced by Mikey McCleary and Parth Parekh. The duo also wrote the lyrics along with Joel Padikkal.

Recalling the recording of the song and shooting of the video, he said that the experience was quite a challenge with “an interview simultaneously from 6:00 PM to 8:30 AM” but it has strengthened his patience and honed his professionalism.

“I had a blast recording and shooting for the song video,” he said.

Sunep added that he enjoys both composing and singing as “Composing takes me to another world while singing give a sense of freedom.”

“NEXA Music experience is one of the most memorable experiences in my life till now. Meeting so many talented artists and the best part is meeting A.R Rahman and talking with him for nearly a minute was life changing” he said.

About the music scenario in Nagaland, he said, “It is getting better by day and lot of great artists are coming with different perspectives on music”. He exuded hope that in a few years’ time, Nagaland will have more artists who will take music to international platforms.

Sunep A Jamir is a 29-years-old vocalist of ‘Tune Up Channel’ and a solo artist from Mokokchung. He discovered his singing potential at the age of 12 when his hostel warden insisted him to participate in a competition where he emerged as the winner. His sense of interest in singing eventually developed and formed a band ‘Tune Up Channel’ in his college days. He did his graduation in Sociology and has also completed a course in social entrepreneurship.

Speaking about his musical influence he said, “Many artist have influenced me but my dad is my biggest influence” and about his musical genre he said “I love disco, retro and synth genre but I also love experimenting different kinds of genre so I don’t stick to one genre alone”

“I have few achievements together with my band members, but my solo significant achievement is being a super winner of NEXA Music.”
