The Seyochung Village Students’ Union (SVSU) has written to the Chief Medical Officer Medical Ward, Kiphire requesting for upgradation of the Health and Wellness Centre at Seyochung village.

During its visit to the Health and Welliness Centre at Seyochung Village on  September 30 to assess the Centre’s curent condition, the SVSU observed several challeriges impacting the healthcare services provided in the community

“The Centre currently has only one Community Health Officer (CHO) and one Auxiliary Nurue Midwife (ANM), which is insufficient to handle the growing healthcare needs of Seyochung Village Additionally, the CHD has highlighted a shortage of essential medical instruments and first aid kits. While supplies are provided by your office, they are inadequate for meeting the daily requirements of the Centre,” stated the Union.

It also highlighted that Seyochung Village has the highest population under Seyochung ADC Headquarters, exceeding even Seyochung Town in terms of population. Despite this, the village continues to receive minimal medical support. Therefore,  the Union has urged the CMO to consider upgrading the Health and Wellness Centre to a Primary Health Centre (PHC), which is expected to  enhance healthcare delivery and support the increasing population

“We trust that you will kindly look into this matter at the earliest and take necessary action to improve the healthcare infrastructure for the benefit of the villagers,” urged the Union.
