A thanksgiving service in honour of newly elected candidate of 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency, Daochier I Imchen, was held on May 4 at his residence at Mokokchung attended by supporters and citizens from across the Koridang constituency.

The programme was chaired by Allen Imchen, while the thanksgiving and dedicatory prayer was offered by Rev Moatoshi Jamir. Short speeches were delivered by party leaders, representatives, and well-wishers.

Addressing the gathering, Imchen turned emotional and briefly broke down, saying he wished his late father could have witnessed the moment, adding that he believes his father would be “smiling seeing this.”

He expressed gratitude to the country’s leadership, including the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister, National BJP President, the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and the State BJP President for their guidance and continued support throughout the election campaign.

Highlighting the significance of representation, Imchen remarked that while India has over 4,000 MLAs among a population of 140 crore, Nagaland has 60 legislators for around 19 lakh people, and that Koridang now holds its place among them.

Referring to his margin of victory, he told the gathering that the figure reflects responsibility rather than pride. He urged citizens to remain disciplined and humble, and to work together without internal differences as development efforts begin.

He assured the people that he would serve on the foundation of truth, stating that leadership would not be guided by fraud, lies, or betrayal. At the same time, he noted that decisions taken in the larger interest in truth may not please everyone and sought understanding from the public.

Calling on elders for guidance, Imchen said the younger generation is stepping forward to take responsibility and requested continued advice and encouragement, which he described as crucial to his journey.

Recalling the long-standing support extended to his late father since 2003 till 2023, he said the relationship went beyond politics and support him as a family by many, describing it as one rooted in family and affection. He also referred to his declaration at Mangmetong village, stating that the mandate reflects the people’s continued trust where he said “Imkongliba party, one more time.”

Acknowledging that his tenure would be limited to about one and a half years, Imchen said he would not have the advantage of a full term like others. However, he urged the people of Koridang to come together and make the most of the time available and stressed that the winning of the election should not go to waste and that efforts would be directed towards the development of the constituency, particularly for the youth.
