In yet another major political development marking a boost for the Naga People’s Front (NPF), three elected Indian National Congress Councillors representing Chumoukedima and Tuli Town Councils formally joined the NPF today at an induction programme organized at the NPF Central Office, Kohima.
The programme was held in the presence of Advisor and Secretary General, Naga People’s Front, Achumbemo Kikon.
The leaders who joined the Party includes K Wati Imchen, Ward No. 08, Chumoukedima Town Council, Temsumenba Imsong, Ward No. 06 and K Imlitemjen Jamir, Ward No. 08 of Tuli Town Council respectively, a press release issued by the press bureau of NPF stated.
Welcoming the new members to the Party fold, Secretary General Achumbemo Kikon conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to the three Councillors for making what he termed a bold and timely decision to align with the NPF.
Addressing the gathering, Kikon dwelt at length on the Party’s guiding principles, its ideology and its steadfast commitment to the Naga political question, which remains central to its political agenda.
Highlighting the essence of the Party, the Secretary General affirmed, “Regionalism and the spirit of ‘Naganess’ form the very core of our identity. The NPF shall continue to stand for and pursue the collective interests and aspirations of the Naga people across boundaries through peaceful and democratic means.”

He further noted that the Party’s sustained movement is deeply anchored in safeguarding and promoting Naga identity, culture and rich heritage.
Senior Vice Presidents, N Bendang Jamir, Charlie Sekhose, along with Vice President (Org & Estt) Benjamin Lorin also addressed the occasion. They expressed delight over the induction of the three Councillors, welcomed them into the NPF family and expressed confidence that their presence will further strengthen the Party base at the grassroots in their respective areas.
The induction programme was attended by senior Party leaders, Central Office Bearers and supporters accompanying the newly inducted Councillors.
