Training on CBO-Governance and Leadership Training held in Longmatra Block

Kiphire: Presence, understanding and interrelation of Membership, Governance and Operations in an org discussed

Two days on ‘House training on Community based Organisation-Governance and Leadership’ was held in Longmatra Block from 27th 28th August 2024 at Block Office Longmatra.

During the course of the training, resource person from BMMU staff Longmatra covered various topics on ‘Robust community-based organisation.’ Horiba, AC IBCB spoke on the topic remarked that, a robust organisation is capable of addressing their own development needs and is able to place demands on the system as pre-conditions for sustainable development and responds to the needs of the members.

The presence, understanding and interrelation of the three pillars; Membership, Governance and Operations in an organisation was also discussed. Kuramong, AC FI shared on the rights and duties of Members, Governance and operations, while Rangchopila, AC SISD shared on the different types of leadership and meeting process.

Rangchopila states that among different types of leadership, democratic type of leadership is encouraged in any community based organisation. She emphasised that democratic leadership is based on the idea that everyone’s input is valuable and that the team is more important than any individual encouraging the relationship amongst team members and facilitating discussion that allows multiple members to weigh in on decisions.

Atsope, BPM put emphasis on the topic ‘Dynamics of an organisation through the Analogy of Rocket’ and understanding the basic structure of CLF. “The analogy of a rocket as an organisation provides a holistic view of how different components interconnect and contribute to overall success,” she said. “A well aligned and balanced organisation, just like a well designed rocket can achieve remarkable results likewise, in an organisation, members, system, operation and Governance play a unique and crucial roles in moving the organisation forward with Vision, Mission, Operation, Strategies and Action Plan (VMOSA),” she added.

Earlier, the training commenced with an invocation by CLF EC Members, while a welcome and a brief introduction among the participants was initiated by the BPM. CLF members under Longmatra Block and BMMU Longmatra Staff attended the Programme.
