A training programme for field functionaries on the District Census Handbook (DCHB) – Village Directory and Town Directory was conducted at the Circuit House on September 23 with the objective of familiarising participants with the procedures, schedules and digital tools involved in the preparation of the Census Handbook.
The programme commenced with opening remarks by EAC Imliwabang Aier.
Deputy Director, Directorate of Census Operations (DCO), Vikishe Chishi, delivered an introductory session on the District Census Handbook and the role of Village and Town Authorities. He explained the responsibilities and participation of local authorities in the census-related exercise.
The participants were subsequently trained on the DCHB Village Directory and Town Directory schedules. The session focused on the information to be collected and the procedures to be followed for compiling the required directory data.
Statistical Investigator, K Mahesh conducted the session on DCHB–Village Directory, while Junior Executive, Keneilhounuo Paphino provided training on the DCHB web portal and mobile application. This was followed by an application demonstration by Junior Executive Kuraktsang, aimed at familiarising field functionaries with the digital platform and its use in carrying out their assigned tasks. Training on the DCHB–Town Directory was conducted by Junior Executive, Keneingunuo Pfuse.

An open-house discussion was held towards the end of the programme, providing participants an opportunity to raise queries and clarify issues related to the DCHB exercise. The programme concluded with closing remarks.
A total of 34 field functionaries participated in the training, comprising 32 Village Directory (Rural) functionaries and two Town Directory functionaries from the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) and East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC).
The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of field functionaries and ensure proper coordination with Village and Town Authorities in the systematic compilation of information for the District Census Handbook.
