The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has said that it will field candidates in the forthcoming election to the urban local bodies in Nagaland, State President Benjamin Yepthomi has informed.

However, to ensure a “friendly contest” with its PDA ally NDPP, BJP will only nominate candidates in the Wards of Municipal and Town Councils that are within the 12 Assembly Constituencies where the Party currently has sitting Members of Legislative Assembly.

The Party will not field candidates in the Wards within the constituencies where the NDPP, have MLAs.

Further, Yepthomi informed that wherever possible, the BJP and the NDPP through mutual understanding, would work to accommodate seats for each other taking winnability of the candidate into account.
