Kohima: Scheme to provide support to artisans and craftspeople of rural and urban areas across India

Union Minister of State of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Dr Sanjeev Kumar Balyan will be attending the formal launching of the Prime Minister Vishwakarma Scheme in Kohima, Nagaland as the chief guest at the de Oriental Grand on Sunday noon.

PIB Kohima has informed that the nation-wide launching of the scheme will be done from Dwarka by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 12.40 pm which will be livestreamed across all the venues in states and Union Territories where one Union Minister each will be attending the launching.

Before the arrival of the Prime Minister at Dwarka and his subsequent launching of the scheme there, Union Minister Dr Sanjeev Kumar Balyan will address the gathering at the Oriental De Grande.

Officials of the district administration, HoD, AHoDs, artisans and a host of government officials are expected to attend the program.

PM Vishwakarma scheme will provide support to artisans and craftspeople of rural and urban areas across India. Eighteen traditional crafts will be covered under the scheme including (i) Carpenter; (ii) Boat Maker; (iii) Armourer; (iv) Blacksmith ; (v) Hammer and Tool Kit Maker; (vi) Locksmith; (vii) Goldsmith; (viii) Potter; (ix) Sculptor, Stone breaker; (x) Cobbler (Shoesmith/ Footwear artisan); (xi) Mason (Rajmistri); (xii) Basket/Mat/Broom Maker/Coir Weaver; (xiii) Doll & Toy Maker (Traditional); (xiv) Barber; (xv) Garland maker; (xvi) Washerman; (xvii) Tailor; and (xviii) Fishing Net Maker.
