The three-day closing programme of Unity Mini Hornbill Festival cum Pre-Christmas celebration was held at DC Office Complex, Peren District Hq. on 7th December 2024. The programme was graced by Deputy Chief Minister and Minister in-charge of Planning & Transformation and National Highways, T.R. Zeliang as the special guest and NZPO President, Zandi Domta as the chief host.
T.R. Zeliang in his address thanked all the members of the organising committee for their efforts and sacrifice in making the Unity Mini Hornbill Festival a grand success. He encouraged all the government officers and staff of various departments to work for the general public with enthusiasm. Zeliang further called upon them to come back with renewed vigour and new spirit post New Year to build up the New DC Complex and the Model Township together and create a better place to live in so that the long cherished dream of the pioneers who visualised this master plan modern township will be translated into a reality and nothing is impossible when you remain united and have the will power. With the celebration of Pre-Christmas, he expressed hope that the promise of peace and hope for the future that comes with Christmas be ignited in everyone.
Zandi Domta, in his short speech, thanked the Deputy Commissioner and Organising Committee for inviting him to be a part of the event. He described the incumbent Deputy Commissioner of Peren as dedicated officer who has been working tirelessly for the upliftment of the people of the district, and for which he extended his sincere appreciation on behalf of the Tribal Hohos. With the celebration of this Unity Mini Hornbill Festival, Zandi called for unity and oneness among the people of Peren District in order to take the district forward.
Earlier, Pastor KBA (N), Rev. Tongpu Singson offered the invocation, followed by welcome address delivered by Rongmei Council Peren, President, Jangdiat Gonmei.
Meanwhile, the programme also witnessed a meaningful Christmas message shared by St. Xavier College, Jalukie Principal, Fr. Dr. Francis Cheerangal, special presentation by Winner of Peren Voice Impact Season 9, Keyicitube Nza and distribution of prizes & certificates to the winners of various competitive event by the special guest and chief host.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by the Convenor of Planning Committee.
