Speaking to Nagaland Tribune, Ura Academy secretary and Seminar Co-ordinator, Kereivilie Kire said the main objective of organising this program is to keep the Tenyimia tradition alive, which, includes the traditional attires, habits, songs and other good behaviours and traditions followed by the Tenyimia’s in the olden days.

Kire maintained that with the changing times and modernity becoming a way of lifestyle for many, people are slowly losing the traditions and culture practices.

“…we follow a lot of good traditions and practices, but we are losing those with the coming of modernity and tradition. It is high time we revive them. That includes, respecting our elders, greeting one another and many other good behaviours which we have started losing or rather lacking behind,” said Kire.

Mentioning that the other aim in organising this seminar, is to bring all the Tenyimia under one roof apart from the celebrations, Kire said that it also aims to contribute ideas to promote Tenyimia language and culture.

“Every Tenyimia is a part of Ura Academy, that includes even the new born and all Tenyimia should include themselves in this program and participate,” said Kire.

Speaking of the events he said that the Tenyidie seminar is held every year in May last week and this year with the motto of ‘Mother tongue: The power of our thought’, it is centric on Tenyidie teachers.

“They will focus mainly on New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and NHS books. The teachers will be given time to express their concerns and also learn from the participants.”

On the closing day, students from different schools will participate in debates and awards will be conferred to them respectively.

This is mainly to encourage, bring forth the students and give them more opportunities for participation in such seminars.
