The United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) has issued a directive to the Chief Engineer, PWD National Highway, Nagaland for immediate repair on the National Highway 202 from 190.00 Km to 240.00 Km under Kiphire Division.
The USSC in the larger interest of the citizens of the Kiphire district, urgently requested the immediate intervention of the PWD in directing the contractors to commence urgent road repairs on National Highway 202 from 190.00 Km to 240.00 km, adhering to the terms specified in the contract agreement signed between the department and the contractors.
“As per the agreement, it was clearly outlined that road repairs within 3 (Three years) would be undertaken to address the existing construction challenges. Regrettably, the agreed-upon timelines have not been met, and the situation is reaching a critical point,” stated the USSC in a letter issued by Aketo V Sangtam, Executive Chairman and Sethrongba Y Sangtam, President.
Despite repeated appeals made by the conference, the required repairs have not been initiated till date.
“This letter serves as a final warning, urging your office to promptly engage with the contractors involved and issue an unequivocal directive, emphasizing the gravity of the situation and absolute enforcement to comply with the terms specified in the agreement,” asserted the student body.

The letter also added, “Further, no maintenance bill along with the security deposit and performance bill will be released until the repair of potholes at various locations is completed. An action-taken report on the progress of the repair work must be intimated to this office within [15 days) from the issue of this letter and strict adherence to this directive is non-negotiable.”
Anticipating a swift resolution, the USSC exuded hope that concerned authorities prioritize the safety and fulfillment of their shared vision for regional prosperity.
“Failing to adhere to this directive will leave us with no choice but to compel us to escalate the issue through legal channels and other means available to us,” warned the USSC.
