Week long training on banana fibre extraction and handicraft products development begins at Wokha

Wokha: Training aimed to empower women and youth by equipping them with valuable skills, to encourage entrepreneurship

District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Wokha, in collaboration with Shiahoi Oshom-ETF Cell Wokha, is organising a week-long training on Banana Fiber Extraction and Handicraft Products Development. The programme that commenced on Tuesday will be conducted at Yikhum Community Hall and Old Riphyim Federation Office in two batches.

The Partner organizations of the training include the Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre, Dimapur, and Englan Yingsung Women Livelihood Thrift & Credit Cooperation Society Ltd.

The primary objective of the Banana Fiber Extraction and Handicraft Products is to empower women and youth by equipping them with valuable skills and to encourage entrepreneurship and facilitate sustainable livelihood opportunities. This initiative not only fosters skill development but also promotes the preservation of traditional crafts and indigenous knowledge.

Fifty youth from various self help groups (SHGs) and respective villages are attending the training programme.
