The Director, Department of Art & Culture, Nagaland, Adela Moa, launched the web page of the Wokha District Library on 22nd May 2024. She lauded the initiative as a first of its kind and urged the patrons to avail the facilities with utmost care.

Additional Director of Art & Culture, N. Thungchano, Directorate officers, District Cultural Officer Wokha Zuthungo Yanthan and the staff of Wokha District Library were present at the occasion.

The library digitalization, initiative of the DO, was spearheaded by Ovungthung R. Jungio, ARO (Assistant Research Officer) Wokha. A presentation on the web page demo was done by the ARO.

The initiative presents a holistic way of managing library inventory by leveraging digital tools to build an online database of books, where all the books were assigned unique ID’s by using a method called “SECTOR TAG METHOD” framed by the ARO. The Method is borrowed from the concept of postal pin codes and how the six digits pin codes are used to identify the postal addresses. The unique IDs can be used to physically identify the location of the books in the library.
