Wokha District Table Tennis Championship 2024 concludes

The closing ceremony of the Wokha District Table Tennis Championship 2024 organised by the Wokha District Table Tennis Association took place today at the Youth Centre, DBHSS Wokha, featuring C. Hachio Patton, PRO to the Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, as the special guest.

In his address, Patton highlighted the vital role of sports in enhancing community spirit and personal growth. Underscoring the significance of the event for the district, Patton expressed hope for its lasting impact. He remarked that sports goes beyond mere enjoyment as they serve to unite communities. While many players compete out of passion, according to the Speaker, for younger athletes, sports can be pivotal for future careers. “Success does not stem from the top but starts at the grassroots,” he stated, commending all participants and congratulating the tournament champions.

The championship showcased remarkable performances, with David Hinglak, Zichumthung Ngullie, Chumben, and Nchumbemo earning spots to represent Wokha district at the upcoming 27th Nagaland Inter-District & State Table Tennis Championship 2024. The women’s team will include Mharoli, Kulutolu, and Kuthotsolu.

During the event, three women athletes—Mharoli Gigi Khuvung, Vonchano Ngullie, and Mulutolu Puro—who recently secured bronze medals in the team event at the Nagaland Olympics were felicitated,

The programme concluded with expressions of gratitude from James Ezung, Organising Secretary of WDTTA, and closing remarks by Eranbemo Ezung, Assistant Organising Secretary.
