Wokha DPDB meeting held

Wokha: The monthly District Planning and Development Board meeting was held on 9th August 2022 at DC’s conference hall Wokha

The meeting was presided by Chairman DPDB Wokha and Advisor for Law & Justice Dr. Chumben Murry. Advisor for Horticulture & Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan, Advisor for Information Technology & Communication, Science & Technology, New & Renewable Energy Mmhonlumo Kikon also attended the meeting.

Discussing the status report under Wokha district and various roads projects sanctioned/submitted under R&B and National Highway, E.E (R&B) Wokha division, Baghty division, and SDO National Highway presented in brief about the outlook on the status of road statistics, PMGSY projects and other schemes of roads constructed and other upcoming roads projects and several proposals submitted under Wokha district.

E.E (R&B) Baghty Division also apprised the board that the stretch of road under Baghty division 69% of roads is motorable where 31% of roads are non-motorable, and stated that the cause of non-motorable roads is due to the absence of major schemes and works in the area. He also mentioned that the stretches from Bhandari to Yimpang village (PWD) roads were damaged mainly because of heavy logging and coal mining activities.

Reacting to the statement made by the E.E (R&B) Baghty division, Advisor Mmhonlumo Kikon requested the ADC Bhandari, District Forest Officer, and E.E R&B Baghty division to initiate an investigation regarding damage to roads caused by plying of heavy laden vehicles/truck which is involved in logging and coal mining activities carried out in the area and directed them to submit status report in the next meeting.

Deputy Commissioner & Chairman District Education Committee Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan (IAS) while presenting the action plan for promotion of better HSLC results, stated the committee decided to the adoption of one school in each Assembly Constituency by the DPDB for close monitoring, convergent action, and GAP funding.

Dy. CMO Dr.Zuben Kikon highlighted the status and attendance of MOs and Medical staff, staff position in the health facilities, status of equipment & diagnostics, utilization of ambulances, and lack of technicians in the district. Mmhonlumo after hearing from Dy. CMO requested the District Administration to verify the attendance of doctors, nurses, and staff in all the health care centres.

Advisor Mhathung Yanthan, stated that the department should not allow doctors to be transferred or sent for study leave without replacement as the public is suffering due to the absence of MO in the health care centres. Supplementing on the statement made by Yanthan Mmhonlumo also asked Deputy Commissioner to write to higher authority regarding doctors wanting to go for study leave without replacement stating District Administration will not give NOC as there are good numbers of doctors who have gone for study leave and their reliever are not yet filled/posted.

Mmhonlumo Kikon also said that all heads of offices in the district should ensure that “No Work No Pay” should be imposed on the non-performing employees for better performance of the government establishments in the district.

The board also approved the proposal for a circular road covering 4 KM at Wokha town. Chairman DPDB Wokha asked the Agriculture, Horticulture, KVK, and District Narcotic Cell to present their activities at the next Planning board meeting.

The board also welcomed the following new members, Moyithung Lotha SDO (UD), Aoimrong Aier DHO (Horti), Er. Kuhovi Sema E.E Baghty, Rosy Sangtham EAC Wokha, Rongsenmenla ADC Sanis, Orenbom0mo PO (Planning), and Along Konyak BDO Bhandari.
