Workshop on Solid Waste Management held at Chumoukedima

A One-Day Workshop on Solid Waste Management was successfully conducted on June 30 at the DC’s Conference Room, Chumoukedima. The objective of the program was to sensitize and equip all urban stakeholders of Chumoukedima Town to act as torchbearers and role models toward achieving sustainable growth and establishing proper waste management systems within the district.

The programme was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chumoukedima. T. Lemlila Sangtam, NCS.

The workshop witnessed the participation of resource persons from the Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB), Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), and the Department of Urban Development. Councillors of the Chumoukedima Town Council (CTC), members of the Chumoukedima Chamber of Commerce, and other stakeholders attended the programme.

Held under the theme “Freedom from Garbage,” the workshop highlighted the provisions of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, with emphasis on segregation, collection, and scientifically sound disposal of waste in alignment with the newly updated statutory framework.

The workshop aimed to sensitise stakeholders of Chumoukedima Town to become torchbearers in promoting sustainable growth through responsible solid waste management practices.
