World Music Day: Self-taught musician, Nzanthung Kithan says he share close bond with music

Wokha: Apart from music, to earn a living, I even go for manual work sometimes, Kithan confesses

A self-taught musician, Nzanthung Kithan, shares close bond with music since a very young age. Hailing from, Nungying village of Wokha District, he is the vocalist of a band called Faith Factor and also for a project band called Symphony of Rock Band.

Kithan shares that his love for music started at a very young age. “Music has been part of his life and have played a very big role in overcoming my doubts and fear,” he says. He has however, shared his share of struggle given the circumstances.

All the more, Kithan posits that “to survive as musician in Nagaland is a very big challenge. We hardly get any shows to perform and to earn as musician in a state like Nagaland is very difficult.”

Apart from music, to earn a living, I even go for manual work sometimes, he adds.

In his career so far, Kithan have played as a back up vocalist, for renowned band, About Us in districts like Mokokchung, Dimapur, Kohima and Wokha.

Speaking of his inspiration to take music as a career, he says it comes from his dad and fellow musician and one genre that he chooses as his favourite is Gospel Rock.

He is currently the vocalist of ‘Faith Factor’ band where his main goal is to promote the band as one professional band in the state of Nagaland.
