World Suicide Prevention Day observed in Nagaland University

World Suicide Prevention Day was observed in Nagaland University, Kohima Campus on September 10 with a program organized by the Department of Psychology.

Dr Lovika P Shikhu, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, Nagaland University chaired the program, Dr Imlisongla Longkumer, Head, Department of Psychology, Nagaland University highlighted the significance of World Suicide Prevention Day and the Special Guest of the event.

Prof N Venuh, Pro Vice-Chancellor, NU-KC, addressed the rising mental health challenges among young people, stressing the need for accessible mental health resources and application-based research and outreach.

A special number was performed by Ziliro Anar and Bilila Sangtam, MA students, Department of Psychology, NU-KC and the opening session concluded with a vote of thanks by Senthunglo Sandie Yanthan, Guest faculty, Department of Psychology, NU-KC.

Later in the day, a talk aligning with the theme of the event was presented by Nenchu Kath, Assistant Professor, Psychology Programme, North East Christian University. She enlightened the audience on how stigma is maintained in the community and also elaborated on ways that can break the silence and change the narrative on suicide.

Kezhasenuo Kesiezie, Guest faculty, Department of Psychology, NU-KC moderated the session.
