Youth Morung inaugurated at Pungro town

Youth Khiang Yam (Youth Morung) was inaugurated at IBAPWO Office, Medical Ward, Pungro Town on Thursday.

Delivering the welcome address, N Apong, Director of International Border Area Peoples Welfare Organisation (IBAPWO), welcomed all the invited guests and participants.  He stated that the Youth Khiang Yam is a space dedicated to youths and students where they can express themselves, learn, and explore their potential. He also informed the gathering that books for academic and other purposes have been made available and encouraged students and youths to make full use of the facility.

In his short speech, special guest, EAC Pungro encouraged the youths to remain positive and make the best use of their youth. He urged them to explore opportunities available to them and congratulated the organisers for initiating such a meaningful programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Longtili C Sangtam, Founder of Akedha Amulung expressed happiness in being part of such a noble initiative. He said that young people are the future leaders of society and encouraged them to explore their strengths and interests. He highlighted that society progresses through the contributions of people from different professions and backgrounds.

He urged the youths not to limit themselves to a single path but to discover their calling and pursue it confidently. He further encouraged them to make use of the resources available, reminding them that no initiative begins with perfection and that growth comes through continuous effort. He congratulated the team behind the Youth Khiang Yam for making the initiative a reality.

Assistant Commandant, 30 Assam Rifles, Pungro also addressed the gathering. He shared that he has regularly interacted with local youths and has provided guidance on various examinations and career opportunities. He encouraged the youths to be more open, interactive, and willing to learn so that they can move forward successfully in life.

The programme concluded with a benediction pronounced by Pastor Tsuyigba of Pungro Town Baptist Church.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by Sara Khongsai, Coordinator of IBAPWO. The invocation was offered by Pastor Chipong of the United Pentecostal Church, followed by an opening hymn led by Lomala, Choir Director of Pungro Town Baptist Church. A special number was presented by Tanrikhum, adding colour to the programme.
