With the purpose of preparing young aspiring future voters in the electoral participation and also rooting the responsibility that lies ahead, the Office of DC & DEO Noklak in collaboration with District Hub for Empowerment of Women Noklak Under Systematic Voters’ Education & Electoral Participation ( SVEEP) & Beti Bachao Beti Padhao organised a Youth Voters Festival 2023 on October 7 at St.Paul School, Noklak.
Vikhoto Richa, Sub Divisional Officer, Noklak in his address to the students said that Youth festival is an Election Commission of India (ECI) initiative with the aim to educate future voters targeting the youths to be part of India which is the largest democratic country. With the purpose mainly to empower youths to become responsible and bring changes through their votes, Richa notified that eligible voters should contact the Booth Level Officer ( BLO) to enroll themselves as voters for the 2024 Lok Sabha election. The SDO also highlighted about the procedures of voting to the future voters, besides briefing on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao which he announced the event is the first one under BBBP that has involved Inter- school.

Chongphe Khiamniungan, GHSS Noklak in her speech spoke about the importance of voting stating that the people are the one who can bring changes in the country. “A vote in a democracy never goes to vain. Every citizens of India regardless of colour and race has the right to vote under Indian Constitution after certain age,” said Chongphe who encouraged the other students to make their voice heard by voting.
As part of the event, the students took part in various competition activities such as Penalty shootout, Arm Wrestling, face painting, obstacle race etc.
Earlier, the program was chaired by Kathyinla, EAC Noklak, and a special number presented by St. Paul School Noklak. The vote of thanks was delivered by Sentimeren Ao, Assistant Programmer.
