Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Zunheboto district branch celebrated World Red Cross Day under the theme, “Everything we do comes from the heart” at DC’s conference hall on Monday.
Deputy Commissioner and chairman of IRCS, Zunheboto district branch, Rahul Bhanudas Mali said one should always help neighbours irrespective of caste or creed and that it should always come from the heart, taking the Bible reference “thou shalt love thy neighbours”. He added that humans have the ability of reasoning and making things right and so encouraged everyone to always have a clear conscience and help one another.
DC Mali further added that for making society a better place the administration and IRCS alone cannot do it and so requested everyone to always cooperate and help one another.

Secretary IRCS Zunheboto Dr G Hokishe Sema chaired the meeting and delivered the keynote address where he explained that Red Cross Day is celebrated every year to honour the birthday of Henry Dunant who was born on 8 May 1828. Dunant founded the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and was also a Peace Laureate.
Sema informed that IRCS will be giving relief materials including blankets, clothes, kitchen materials and soaps to fire victims under Zunheboto district in a few days. The team will also ,be visiting the orphanage home at Sukhalu village to supply blankets in a few days he added.
Earlier in the program, invocation prayer was delivered by Dr Hutton Sumi, Pastor, Sumi Baptist Church Zunheboto, while Tuden Ozukum, Pastor, Zunheboto Ao Baptist Arogo pronounced the benediction prayer.
