The 1st State Open Javelin Throw Championship 2022 to commemorate the Gold medal won by Neeraj Chopra in Tokyo Olympics 2020, organized by Dimapur Athletics in collaboration with Nagaland Athletics, was conducted at Government Higher Secondary School Ground, Dimapur on 6th August 2022.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Mhalo Humtsoe said one main reason behind not excelling in sport was the coming up of new technologies as children were all caught up with it that they do not want to go outdoor for physical activity; and another one is the mindset of the society including parents by encouraging children to go for white collared jobs.
She hoped that the Championship would motivate the young people to take up sports and inspire them to self-discipline, build confidence and develop the personality to achieve their goals in life.
