25th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy: tournament enters pre-quarters

The ongoing 25th Anniversary Edition of the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy which was officially kicked off on September 13 is all set to enter into the pre-quarters stage from October 6 at the Indira Gandhi (IG) Stadium, Kohima.

The tournament has now progressed through the third round with 29 matches completed so far, played in two venues- IG Stadium Kohima and Chümoukedima Football Stadium. The remaining fixtures will be played at IG Stadium Kohima, culminating in the grand finale on October 18.

As per the organisers, the total goals scored during this edition stand at 174 so far while 58 yellow cards have been served to caution players and 10 red cards.

Thokchom Adison Singh of Mez & Co. leads the race for highest goal scorer with 10 goals. A total of 29 teams (696 players and officials) have exited the championship battle.

The organisers have informed that starting from October 6, vehicles will not be permitted to enter into the restricted area of IG Stadium Kohima in order to avoid inconvenience. Only the following vehicles will be permitted entry- Tournament officials, Invited guests and match day participating teams (limited to 1 bus and 2 cars or 5 cars).

Meanwhile, the organisers informed that all kinds of intoxicating substances are strictly prohibited inside the stadium premises. Anyone found violating this prohibition would be held responsible for any untoward incidents, and strict disciplinary action will be taken.

Moreover, as per the partnership established for the tournament with Dox Marketing & Media and BingeBOXX Live Streaming, it was informed that the IT Section of the tournament will not entertain any other private channels or entities for live streaming within the stadium premises, as was clearly communicated prior to the commencement of the tournament.

All concerned have been requested to take due note of this information to avoid any misunderstanding or controversy.

The ticket committee also informed that ticket rates will remain unchanged until the completion of the pre-quarter stage. However, as previously announced, ticket prices will increase to INR 100 starting from the quarter-final stage.  The quarter-final, semi-final, and final matches will be held at night and the revised rate will remain applicable until the conclusion of the tournament, organisers stated.

Monday’s pre-quarter matches will see direct entries Rever Gangtok SC and Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong in action.
