26 sanitary workers of Wokha Town Council were felicitated during the closing ceremony of Swachhata Pakhwada 2023 held at the DC conference hall, Wokha on Monday. Arhoni Khuvung received the recognition for best performing staff in the program that was graced by MLA Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe.
Speaking as the chief guest of the event, Humtsoe, on behalf of every Wokha citizen, expressed his gratitude to the sanitation workers for their dedication and efforts in their work of keeping Wokha town clean asserting that “No Work is Small”. The work that sanitation workers do should not be underestimated, as no one else can accomplish what they do, he said.

The MLA reminded gathered of the dangers of unclean and unhygienic environments citing the example of dengue and urged the workers to continue their efforts in upgrading and beautifying Wokha.
Humtsoe also requested the administration to coordinate with the Wokha village and Longsa Village chairmen, extending support and services to them through government schemes while considering their voluntary contributions.
Civil SDO Wokha, Tsidi, provided an overview of the various programs organized under the Swachhta Pakhwada initiative during the past days of September month, these includes the inauguration of the program on a social work and awareness program involving various NGOs and Town Council members, a health camp for sanitary workers, a street play by Santsüo Memorial School to raise awareness about cleanliness, and the circulation of an awareness video by MLA Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe.
The program was chaired by Rosy Sangtam, EAC Wokha. Welcome address delivered by Tsidi, SDO (c) Wokha and special number presented by Khonzani Ovung.
