The 34th annual sports meet of the Northern Angami Youth and Sports Association (NAYSA-C) began at Meriema village on January 22.
Chief Guest Ruokuotuolie Mere, Vice President of the NDPP Kohima Region, gave an inspiring speech underscoring the importance of good sportsmanship. He highlighted the vital contributions of women in Northeast sports, recognizing their successes at national and international levels.
Mere praised the esteemed status of athletes and the career opportunities sports provide. He emphasized the necessity for developing professional referees and coaches in Nagaland. He encouraged players to promote unity and discipline while urging judges and coaches to uphold fairness in sports.

A total of 12 villages and 9 teams will participate in the sports meet. Aneizo Keditsu and Medolenuo Ambrosia Loucü hosted the opening ceremony, with Neingusalie Khruomo chairing the program.
Rev. Keduolhoulie Shüya began the program with an invocation blessing. The presidential address was delivered by Petekhrietuo Kiewhuo, President of NAYSA C. Tepfukranyü Houzha, President of the Meriema Youth Organization, greeted the crowd. Vilavor Loucii entertained the gathering with a special performance. The oath-taking ceremony was conducted by Luoselie Phewhuo.
The sports meet will conclude on 24 January with KVYO President Er. Zhabu Rutsa as guest of honour and Northern Angami women organisation -C as the patrons. The closing ceremony will be held at 2 pm which will be followed by award ceremony and declaration of the selected players for NASA.
