The 3rd edition of the Nagaland Potato Festival 2026 was held at Jakhama Village Ground on May 15 showcasing the agri-trade potential of potato cultivation in the state, with Special Guest, Salhoutuonuo Kruse, Minister for Women Resource Development and Horticulture, Government of Nagaland, formally inaugurating the festival.
The programme was hosted by Visakunu Tetso and Vikhehiezo Kulnu, while Rev Zapovil Sophie, Sr Pastor of Jakhama Baptist Church, offered the invocation. The welcome address was delivered by Kehochol Tase, Chairman, Jakhama Village Council, followed by greetings from Kevipodi Sophie, MLA and Chairman DPDB Kohima.

The keynote address was presented by Dr Keviu Shüya, Deputy Project Director, ATMA Kohima, highlighting the importance of potato farming and its trade opportunities in the state of Nagaland.
Short speeches were delivered by Veyielo Doulo, Director, Department of Tourism and the Commanding Officer of 7th Battalion Madras Regiment, Jakhama Military Station.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Avilie Zhotso, Convener of Nagaland Potato Festival 2026, followed by a stall visit showcasing local potato products and agricultural innovations.
