Around 40 students from 20 schools across Kohima district will participate in the Lions International Peace Poster Contest 2026–27 on the theme “Harmony in Humanity”, to be organised by the Lions Club of Kohima on October 3 at Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima.
The contest is open to students who will be 11, 12 or 13 years old as on November 15, 2026, with participating students to be accompanied by their teachers.
The participating schools are Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Assam Rifles Public School, Mezhür Higher Secondary School, Ministers’ Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School, Fernwood School, Dainty Buds School, Loyola Higher Secondary School Jakhama, Kigwema Government Higher Secondary School, G. Rio School, St. Paul School Phesama, Grace Higher Secondary School, Vinyüzo Higher Secondary School, Model Higher Secondary School, Northfield Higher Secondary School, Chandmari Higher Secondary School, Rev. Dr. Neiliezhü Üsou Memorial School, JO Foundation Inclusive School, Little Flower Higher Secondary School, PM SHRI Government High School New Market and Government High School Phezoucha.
The Lions International Peace Poster Contest encourages children aged 11 to 13 to creatively express their understanding of peace. According to the Lions Club of Kohima, more than 600,000 children worldwide participate in the contest, sharing their visions of peace while promoting tolerance and international understanding.

Although organised locally by the Lions Club of Kohima under the leadership of its president, Lion Er. Talitemsu Jamir, the contest is an international programme of Lions Clubs International. Winning posters advance through district, multiple district and international levels of judging.
At the local level, the winning student will receive recognition from the Lions Club of Kohima along with a cash prize of Rs. 10,000. The winning entry will then proceed to district-level judging and may advance to the multiple district and international stages if successful at each level.
The contest will be chaired by Lion Max Menuse-O Marius, secretary of the Lions Club of Kohima. Artist Ruokuoselhou Miachieo will judge the posters based on originality, artistic merit and expression of the theme “Harmony in Humanity.”
At the international level, the Grand Prize Winner will receive US$5,000 and an award at a special ceremony hosted by Lions Clubs International in the United States. Twenty-three Merit Award Winners will each receive US$500 and a certificate of achievement.
The Lions Club of Kohima has been conducting various community service activities in and around the state capital, with the Peace Poster Contest being one of its flagship youth programmes under Lions Clubs International.
