4th Inter-Department badminton tournament 2024 to be held from August 16 to 17

The 4th Inter-Department badminton tournament 2024 organised by the Inter department Badminton Club Kohima will be held on from August 16 to 17 at the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Multi-purpose hall.

Shanavas C, APC and Convenor of Organising committee made the announcement during a press conference held at the Agriculture Production Officer Chamber, Nagaland Civil Secretariat on July 12.

This year, the team category will include : Men’s Double, Women’s Double, Mixed doubles, 50+, Legislators, Ex-Legislators and Retiree’s (Doubles). The Entry fee for tournaments is slated at Rs.2000 per team.

“The badminton tournament edition was formed to promote the badminton game, to have good participation and good game. And we also make sure that office hours are not affected so they are doing it for Friday and Saturday. The purpose of this tournament is to create bonding among the departments,” stated Shanavas.

The registration will start today and the last date of form submission will be on August 9 at Okusa Toyota Showroom (opposite Hotel Blue Lagoon) or Sports Inventory (opposite main badminton stadium ) or Room .518, Directorate of School Education.

“For players who have represented State, National or International level tournaments, it will be mandatory that their playing partner should be an amateur. Players should be only those who are posted in Kohima District. Teams will be cancelled if the entry for a category is less than 7 (seven). Incase of any dispute arising, the organising committee’s decision will be binding and final,” informed the organising team.

Further, it will be mandatory for all the participating teams to wear team jerseys (name of the department should be printed/ pasted) and non-marking shoes. Consumption of alcohol, smoking and chewing of tobacco and spitting inside the stadium premises is strictly prohibited and that AS10 shuttle will be used for the tournament, stated the team. The Prizes are slated at Rs.20, 000 for winners and Rs.10,000 for runners up.
