In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Phek District, a one-day Jubilee Marathon sponsored by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports was held in Meluri Sub-division, Phek town and Chozuba town which witnessed enthusiastic participation from the citizens of Phek district. The event was held on December 13, informed the DIPR.
Z Nyusietho Nyuthe, the Advisor of New & Renewable Energy and NSDMA (National Disaster Management Authority), Government of Nagaland, flagged off the Jubilee Marathon commemorating 50 years of Phek district at Meluri Sub Division on December 13. The Department of Youth Resource & Sports, Government of Nagaland, sponsored the 7km-long marathon, which started from Anapo stream and concluded at Meluri Local Ground.
In the Men’s category, Lepenthe Yanphar secured the first position, followed by Jackson Yanphar and Ahuchu Thupitor in the second and third positions, respectively. Consolation prizes in the men’s category were awarded to Yutsolen Yanphar, M Vitsiitho, Maj. Sudhir Sharma, Miilongthvii Jangri, and Kuoziitho Ngouri. For the women’s category, Ayinla Nyusou claimed the first position, with Zuchivi Nyusou and Asingla Thuer securing the second and third positions, respectively. Consolation prizes in the women’s category were given to Rholozhe, Rhewiesa, Gracy Joshou, Ziivi Kajiry, and Ngarho Joshou.
A total of 35 males and 11 females participated in the Jubilee Marathon. ADC Meluri, Albert Ezung presented the winners with prizes.
Phek Town
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Phek District, a one-day Jubilee Marathon sponsored by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports was held on December 13, at Phek Town.
Addressing the participants, C. Tsalimse Sangtam, Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) Phek, expressed that the mini marathon is a significant event scheduled as part of the commemorative activities for the 50th Year of Phek District on December 21, 2023. He emphasized the importance of the mini-marathon, not only in Phek Town but also in the sub-divisions, thanking all participants for contributing to the success of the event.
The race was officially flagged off at Chosaba Junction by ADC Phek, Ruopfukuotuo Noudi. A total of 70 participants, both men and women, engaged in the mini-marathon, covering a distance of 7 kilometers from Chosaba Junction to Clock Tower Phek Town.
Women’s Category Winners:
– 1st Position: Vekholhulu Dozo
– 2nd Position: Saluvelu Rhakho
– 3rd Position: Awale Thopi
– Consolation Prizes: Lumlila Sangtam, Vemuzholu, Zomunulu Vese, Wetsole Venuh, and Setsulu Lohe
Men’s Category Winners:
– 1st Position: Shekhoveto Hoshi
– 2nd Position: Surhoku Ringa
– 3rd Position: Keweko Kapfo
– Consolation Winners: Ikato Zhimo, Shekuzo Soho, Munguhu Dozo, Dzuzuhu Soho, and Vemuyo Khesoh
Cash prizes of Rs. 10,000, Rs. 7,000, and Rs. 5,000 were awarded to the first, second, and third positions in both categories, respectively. Consolation winners received Rs. 1,000 each along with certificates. The prizes and certificates were presented by Commandant 5th NAP Phek, Yanrenthung Ngullie, during the prize distribution ceremony. The event was efficiently conducted by EAC Phek, N. Joshua Tikhir.

Chozuba town
Dr. Cthitü Nienu, the Extra Assistant Commissioner of Chetheba, formally flagged off the Jubilee Marathon as part of the 50 years celebration of Phek district at Zero Point, Chozuba Town on December 13.
In the women’s category, Cekrotalü, Vetuhlü Lohe, and Veyelü Nienu claimed the first, second, and third positions, respectively. For the men, Beduto Ringa, Sapulhù Shijoh, and Mülüsayi Medeo secured the first, second, and third positions. The winners received cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000, and Rs 5,000 for the first, second, and third positions, while five consolation prizes of Rs 1,000 each were also awarded.
The Jubilee Marathon, which started and finished at Zero Point with a turnaround spot at Zaka Lake of Chozuba village, attracted the participation of government officials.
