Following the inaugural ceremony on January 13, the 66th Kohima Village Sports Association meet began today with Tsütuonuomia Khel (T. Khel) claiming a total of 16 medals, putting them in the lead in Nagaland’s biggest village athletics competition.

The KVSA meet, scheduled from January 13-20, is being held at various prominent venues including the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kewhimia ground, Kohima Indoor Stadium, 4th NAP Ground, and Don Bosco ground. The opening day of the event featured 17 athletics events. An impressive seven new records were set, reflecting the exceptional level of athleticism on display.

The four khels of the village- Tsütuonuomia Khel, Lhisemia Khel, Dapfütsumia Khel, and Pfuchatsumia Khel, gathered at the Indira Gandhi Stadium to participate in the athletic events today . In the 4×400 metre race, Petekhrietuo Solo, Meguozetuo Belho, Keneitseizo Belho and Vikeso Belho from T. Khel set a new record of completing the race within 3:39:9 minutes.

In the High jump competition, Keduolhoulie Solo from T.Khel set a new record (1.82 M).

In the Long Jump category, Dziesengunuo Solo (women’s category) from T. Khel set a new record of 4.71 M. Further, in the 1500 metre race (women’s category), Meneno Belho from T.Khel set a new record at 5:50.3 minutes.

Seyiekhrietuo Yiese from D. Khel set a new Shot Put record of 12.32. In the 400 metre race, Meguozotuo Solo from T. Khel achieved a 51.6 new Record while Mhasiletuo Yhome from L. Khel who came on second, also set a new record 52.8.
In the 400 metre race (women) Rüduolhounuo Belho from T. Khel set a new record of 1:08.4.

Meanwhile in the 5000 metre race (Men’s) Kevise Belho from T. Khel achieved a new record of 17:41.1.
