76th Republic Day celebrated in Mokokchung

The 76th Republic Day was celebrated at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung today. Deputy Chief Minister, Home, Border Affairs, Nagaland, Yanthungo Patton unfurl the National flag and read out the Republic Day Speech.

Altogether 9 contingents comprising of DEF Mokokchung, 2nd NAP, 13th IRB, Home Guards, Ex-Servicemen, NCC MGHSS, Bharat Scouts & Guides and Pipe Band (2nd NAP) took part during the March past with Asst. Commandant. 2nd NAP Battalion, Alichen, Medemkala Tzudir as the Parade Commander and ABI, DEF Mokokchung, K. Meren Jamir as 2nd in Command.

 

In the programme, District Administration and District Hub for Empowerment of Women Mission Shakti under the aegis of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, an initiative of the Ministry of Women & Child Development, awarded commendation certificate to UBI Imlichila, as BBBP Champion. Imlichila is presently serving in the capacity of Officer-in-Charge, Women Police Station, Mokokchung, and was recognised for her commitment and dedicated services in promoting gender equality and ensuring the safety and dignity of women and girl child.

The certificate was handed over by Deputy Chief Minister, Yanthungo Patton. Other highlights of the programme include cultural presentation by Aosungkum Cuiltural Club, Mokokchung Village and Longsalong Cultural Club, Mokokchung.

The Deputy Chief Minister also inaugurated the Exhibition Stalls set up by the department of Agriculture, SARS Yisemyong, ATMA, AH & Veterinary Services, Co Operation, Horticulture, District Rural Development Agency. Mokokchung District Legal Service Authority, Land Resources. District Industries Centre and Health & Family Welfare.

Evening programme included Exhibition Football Match and Penalty Shootout (Ladies) between Agri & Allied Dept. & Engineering Wing Dept. and Rest of the Departments.
