7th Kuki Students’ Organisation Nagaland (KSON) Sports Meet begins

The 7th edition of Kuki Students’ Organisation Nagaland (KSON) Sports Meet, a weeklong sports event kicked off on January 23 at Khelma-Sailhem Village, under Peren District, informed the DIPR.

Under the theme “Progressing Together”, Director, Youth Resources & Sports, Kethosituo Sekhose graced the occasion as the Special Guest and BDO, RD Agunaqa Block, Niuland, Ghukato (Yabo) Awomi as Guest of Honour.

Addressing the participating units ahead of the opening event, Special Guest Kethosituo Sekhose applauded the participating units for their zeal and enthusiasm for the game.

The Special Guest also emphasized on “Rural sports” an innovative program to take sports to the most difficult and neglected areas in Nagaland where they can handpick raw talents through the program and promote them through different platforms. He also highlighted the various initiatives taken by the government to support sports enthusiasts excelling in different sporting disciplines.

Earlier, the Special Guest unveiled the Sports Meet Monolith in the presence of KSON Officials, Village Leaders, Church Elders, participating units and other dignitaries, while dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Assistant Moderator, Kuki Christian Church, Nagaland Synod, Rev. K. Singsit.

In the inaugural football match, Saijang Youth & Students’ Union defeated Inbung Students’ & Youth Union 4-3 via tie breaker. A total of 19 Units of KSON would be vying for the coveted trophy in various disciplines.
