Noted peace activist and social reformer, Niketu Iralu on Friday cautioned that Nagas are facing “immense crisis” that demand serious reflection and collective preparedness.
Speaking at the 43rd Angami Gazetted Officers’ Krotho (AGOK) general conference at AGOK Badze, Meriema, Iralu said, “We Nagas are threatened with immense crisis and therefore we have to be ready to respond to the size and complexity of the crisis,” adding, “We must not forget that the crisis threatening us are the local, regional manifestation of the continental and global crisis”.
Iralu observed that organizations such as the Angami Public Organization (APO) and its associated bodies, including AGOK, are now moving beyond usual discussions toward evolving new thinking, plans and action.
He stressed that society as a whole must understand, accept and get involved in confronting unprecedented crisis together to enable people to progress into the future. He further urged leaders to recognize the “signs of the new times” and respond wisely to rapid and uncontrollable changes.
In his presidential address, APO President, Thejao Vihieno acknowledged the organization for working tirelessly and strategically for the betterment and welfare of the public and paving for the path for the youths.
