Major carriers including IndiGo, Akasa Air, Qatar Airways and Emirates have suspended or extended suspension of flights to and from several Middle Eastern destinations amid escalating regional tensions, offering passengers full flexibility through waivers and refunds.
IndiGo said it continues to assess evolving developments and their potential impact on operations, prioritizing passenger safety. In a travel advisory posted on X, the airline announced that the temporary suspension of select international flights operating through parts of Middle Eastern airspace has been extended. Some other international services have also been adjusted in line with current conditions.
The airline is offering full flexibility for travel to and from select cities, along with other impacted international sectors, for bookings made on or before February 28, 2026, with travel until March 7, 2026. Passengers may reschedule at no additional cost or opt for a credit shell. IndiGo said affected customers would receive notifications and assistance from its support teams.
Akasa Air suspended all flights to and from Jordan, Doha, Jeddah, Kuwait and Riyadh for March 3, 2026, citing the ongoing situation in the Middle East. For bookings to or from these cities until March 7, passengers can choose a full refund or reschedule without additional charges. The airline said it would continue monitoring the safety environment and update flight statuses accordingly.

According to ANI report, Qatar Airways announced that its operations remain temporarily suspended due to the closure of Qatari airspace. The airline said flights would resume once the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority declares the airspace safe for reopening, with a further update scheduled for March 3 at 0900 Doha time. Passengers have been advised to monitor official channels for updates.
Emirates also temporarily suspended all operations to and from Dubai until 1500 hours UAE time on Tuesday, March 3, due to multiple regional airspace closures. The airline is offering impacted customers the option to rebook on alternate flights for travel on or before March 20 or request a full refund. City check-in points across Dubai have been closed until further notice.
The widespread suspensions follow escalating tensions in West Asia after reported joint U.S.-Israel military strikes on Iran that resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. Subsequent retaliatory drone and missile strikes by Iran targeting multiple countries in the region have led to extensive airspace closures, significantly disrupting international aviation across the Middle East.
Airlines said they are closely coordinating with relevant authorities and emphasized that passenger and crew safety remains their highest priority.
