The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has expressed solidarity with the Nagaland Government Teachers’ Association (NGTA), representing mainstreamed teachers of the SSA and RMSA 2010 and 2013 batches, and extended full support to the representations submitted by the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and the Eastern Nagaland Students’ Federation (ENSF) to the Chief Secretary, Government of Nagaland.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday, AKM stated that it stands by the rejection of the Meeting Minutes dated February 27, 2026, as conveyed by NSF and ENSF, citing the lack of a clear and definitive assurance on the crucial issue of salary placement of teachers once the Samagra Shiksha 2.0 scheme ceases to continue.

While acknowledging the efforts of the State Government in convening discussions to address the grievances of the teaching community, AKM shared concerns raised by NSF and ENSF that the circulated minutes failed to provide clarity on post Samagra Shiksha salary structures. According to the student body, this continued ambiguity has heightened anxiety among the affected teachers and created an atmosphere of uncertainty that could potentially escalate agitation.

The AKM pointed out that the teachers concerned were mainstreamed into the State cadre through a Cabinet decision in 2022 and are therefore entitled to full service benefits at par with regular State Government employees. The organization noted that the absence of a clear written assurance on their salary placement undermines confidence within the teaching community.

Expressing concern as a student-based organization, AKM warned that failure to address the issue promptly could severely disrupt the academic functioning of government schools across Nagaland, ultimately affecting the welfare and future of students. It emphasized that the stability of the education system is directly linked to the stability and well-being of the teaching community.

In solidarity with NGTA (2010 and 2013 batches) and in support of NSF and ENSF, AKM urged the Government of Nagaland to take urgent, corrective, and time-bound action to provide a clear written assurance that addresses the concerns of the mainstreamed teachers and restores confidence within the education sector.

AKM expressed hope that the State Government would act responsibly and promptly in the interest of justice, academic stability, and the student community at large
