President of India, Droupadi Murmu has appointed Nand Kishore Yadav as the new Governor of Nagaland. Rashtrapati Bhavan made this announcement Thursday evening.
There has been major gubernatorial reshuffle involving several states and Union Territories. The announcement includes appointment of new Governors in Nagaland, Delhi, Telengana, Ladakh, Bihar, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Himachal Pradesh.
Nand Kishore Yadav is a seasoned politician and prominent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader of Bihar. He has held various key position, including councilor, Mayor of Patna and member of Bihar Legislative Assembly since 1995. He also served as the Leader of Opposition and was elected Speaker of Bihar Legislative Assembly in 2024.
Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio has congratulated Nand Kishore Yadav on his appointment as the Governor of Nagaland and looked forward to working together for the welfare and continue progress of the state.
In his post on X, Rio wrote: On behalf of the people of Nagaland, I congratulate Shri Nand Kishore Yadav Ji @nkishoreyadav on his appointment as the Governor of Nagaland. I look forward to working together for the welfare and continued progress of the State.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi has been appointed as the new Governor of West Bengal, succeeding Dr C V Ananda Bose, who resigned earlier on Thursday.

As part of the comprehensive administrative restructuring, Vinai Kumar Saxena has been transferred from his position as Lieutenant Governor of Delhi to serve as Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, while former diplomat Taranjit Singh Sandhu has been appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.
In other key changes, Himachal Pradesh Governor, Shiv Pratap Shukla has been named Governor of Telangana, while Telangana Governor, Jishnu Dev Varma has been transferred to serve as Governor of Maharashtra.
Furthermore, Kavinder Gupta, the outgoing Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, has been appointed Governor of Himachal Pradesh, and Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar will discharge the additional functions of the Governor of Tamil Nadu.
According to an official communique issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan, these appointments will take effect from the dates on which the respective appointees assume charge of their offices.
