Noklak bids farewell to DC Hiazu Meru and SDO (C) C Phuniang

Noklak: The farewell programme was held on 25 November

A farewell programme in honour of Deputy Commissioner Noklak Hiazu Meru and SDO (Civil) Noklak C Phuniang was held on 25 November at DC Conference Hall, Noklak.

Outgoing DC Noklak Hiazu Meru in his farewell speech said the work of the district administration is much easier when there is a strong civil society organization and to this, he acknowledged the cooperation extended by Khiamniungan Tribal Council, Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam, Khiamniungan Student Union and all the range organisations during his tenure in Noklak. He thanked all the VCCs and GBs for giving support during his tenure.

The DC also thanked all the administrative Officers, DBs, and staff for giving support and cooperation to him and expressed hope that the same would also be given to the new DC.

Meru mentioned that the biggest challenge that he had encountered during his stay was on the issue of land acquisition. He then requested all stakeholders to extend cooperation and expedite the process of land acquisition.

He expressed hope that Noklak district would progress and develop because its people are hardworking and sincere.

Recollecting the time he joined as DC Noklak, Meru said it was at the peak of the second wave of the Covid-19 Pandemic. He conveyed his sincere gratitude to all the members of the District Task Force on COVID-19 and government officials. He added that after Covid-19 subsided, certain developmental activities could be taken up together.

The DC commented that he still considers the commissioning of the OT at the District Hospital and the caesarean operation conducted for the first time as one of the most satisfying experiences of his work in Noklak district.

Outgoing SDO (C) Noklak C Phuniang, in his farewell speech, expressed his gratitude to all the departments and civil societies for rendering cooperation throughout his stay in Noklak.

Being an administrator of Noklak Town Council, Phuniang advised the council to continue the efforts for the betterment of the town. He thanked all the government officials, staff and wards leaders for shouldering support which, he said, will be valued for the cooperation given to him.

CMO Noklak Dr Victor, who spoke on behalf of the HoDs, mentioned that both the DC and the SDO (C) were very efficient administrative officers and added that the HoDs of the district will continue to follow in their footsteps.

Head Dobashi Noklak H Longhen, on behalf of the District Administration, said both the DC and SDO(C) were dedicated and sincere administrative officers.

KTC V/P TL Khaoshai, KMH President Newkai, KSC V/P Heme, TRPO President Hangthing, President All Ward Union Noklak Town Imkhong, and Jayant Ahuja also spoke during the occasion.

They all said the district has progressed in many fields and lots of achievements have taken place under DC Noklak Hiazu Meru and SDO (C) Noklak C Phuniang.

The farewell programme was chaired by EAC Noklak Hq Kathyinla while a special number was presented by Longdon Baptist Church Youth Ministry.

Earlier, the invocation was pronounced by PA to DC Noklak Hangji and a vote of thanks was delivered by UDA DC Office N S Pangom.
