The Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) held its handing-taking programme for the tenure 2026–2029 at the LSU office, Wokha, on March 20.

During the event, Er. Mhondamo Ovung, Chairman of Lotha Hoho, congratulated the new team and encouraged them to work for the welfare of the student community. As a civil society organisation, Ovung expressed that the Union has been serving the interests of the Lotha community, but expressed concern over the expenses incurred during student elections.

He suggested that the union consider adopting a nomination system in the future, similar to other civil society organisations in the district, to reduce financial burdens on student leaders. He added that such a system would enable leaders to focus more on the welfare of students and the community.

Lirhonthung E. Kithan, Outgoing president, in his farewell speech, acknowledged his limitations during his tenure and expressed regret that he could not achieve more as president. However, he conveyed confidence in the newly elected president, S. Zubenthung Ngullie, and his team, and wished them success in carrying out their responsibilities diligently for the welfare of the Lotha and Naga communities.
