Mokokchung Police, in coordination with Tuensang Police, arrested a 47-year-old man in connection with the theft of a Maruti 800 from Yimyu Ward, Mokokchung, and recovered the stolen vehicle.
The accused, identified as Shillam, son of late Thaming, of Thonoknyu Village under Thonoknyu Police Station in Noklak district, is presently residing at Old Medical ‘B’ Ward, Tuensang.
According to police, a white Maruti 800 bearing registration number NL02C 0032 was reported stolen from a garage at Yimyu Ward, Mokokchung, on September 28.
The case was investigated by Mokokchung Police Station-II, with CCTV footage and a delivery package recovered from an abandoned grey-coloured Maruti 800 without registration plates providing key leads in tracing the suspect.

During the course of investigation, police also found that the grey Maruti 800 was allegedly stolen from Tuensang by the same accused.
Acting on the leads, Mokokchung Police, with assistance from Tuensang Police, traced the accused to Tuensang. Police said the suspect attempted to flee when apprehended but was eventually caught following a pursuit.
The accused was brought to Mokokchung on October 3 and produced before the court, which remanded him to police custody.
