The Deputy Commissioner of Kohima Henok Buchem has issued a set of directives on March 28 to ensure transparency, prevent diversion/misuse, and regulate the distribution of commercial LPG cylinders within Kohima District.
The order has been issued under Section 3 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, read with the LPG (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order, 2000, and all other enabling provisions of law.
As per the directive, all LPG Distributor agencies operating within Kohima District are mandated to submit detailed records of sale and supply of commercial LPG cylinders including medical institutions and educational institutions, on a periodic basis to the office of the Deputy Commissioner.
The order also require the LPG Distributor agencies to ensure that supply of commercial LPG cylinders to hotels, restaurants, and other commercial establishments is made strictly upon production of a valid issue order/authorization issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima.
Further, all the LPG Distributor agencies has been directed to maintain proper registers, stock records, and transaction details, which will be produce for inspection by the Kohima district LPG monitoring committee or any authorized authority.
The directive also noted that tbe Kohima District LPG Monitoring Committee, along with enforcement agencies, will conduct periodic inspections to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Order and the relevant laws.

Any violation of the order will attract penal action under Section 7 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, and other applicable provisions of law, which may include:
A. Imprisonment and/or fine as prescribed under law
B. Seizure and confiscation of LPG stock;
C. Suspension or cancellation of dealership/licence; by
D. Any other action deemed fit by the competent authority.
“This Order shall come into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force until further orders.
This is issued in the interest of maintaining equitable distribution, transparency, and public welfare, and all concerned are hereby directed to ensure strict compliance,” stated the DC.
