A motivational talk based on biblical principles of leadership was organized by the NPF Central Youth Wing at the NPF Central Headquarters, Kohima, on Monday. The programme brought together party leaders, youth members for an engaging session focused on ethical political leadership and unity.
Delivering the keynote address, Rev Apostle Luoliehu Yimsung, a missionary from Nagaland serving internationally since 1986, shared his long-standing association with the state while delivering a motivational address rooted in biblical principles of leadership.
Recalling his early connection with Nagaland, Yimsung said his association dates back to 1995 when he was invited to speak at a pre-Christmas celebration under the mentorship of former Chief Minister SC Jamir. “That was nearly 30 years ago, and since then I have been working positively with all the Chief Ministers,” he said.
He noted that over the years, he has delivered motivational talks to more than 200 groups across Nagaland and has engaged with leaders from different political parties. He also highlighted that leadership seminars were hosted at various times by leaders including SC Jamir, Neiphiu Rio and TR Zeliang, while a similar initiative from a biblical perspective was also conducted under Shürhozelie Liezietsu.
Clarifying his position, Yimsung said he is neither a politician nor affiliated with any political party. “I am a clergyman, but I speak from a political perspective guided by biblical values,” he stated, adding that he has conducted seminars for all major political groups in the state.
Emphasizing the slogan “Nagaland for Christ,” he urged people not to misinterpret or trivialize it, stating that it represents hope and unity for all Nagas. He also underlined the importance of indigenous culture and faith, saying both remain deeply interconnected.
During his address, Yimsung outlined four categories of individuals within organizations—wanderers, followers, achievers and leaders—each representing different levels of vision and responsibility. He stressed that true leadership lies in vision, perseverance and the ability to inspire others.
“Leaders are those who see, pursue and achieve, while also enabling others to see the same vision,” he said, urging members to make wise choices when selecting representatives in political, social and religious institutions.
He further emphasized the importance of teamwork, encouraging leaders to value their members, as “85 percent of the work is done by followers.” He also cautioned against complacency, urging individuals not to let their comfort zones limit growth.
Highlighting team-building principles, Yimsung spoke on the need to create winning teams by selecting capable members, investing in their development, working collectively and recognizing contributions. He also called for mentorship within organizations and urged leaders to engage with those not currently holding positions.

He announced that a “Bless Kohima” prayer drive will be held on May 2, marking the third such initiative, with participation expected from 150 to 200 people. Reflecting on his journey, he noted that his spiritual work began at Kohima Bible College in 1980.
Calling the gathering “extraordinary,” Yimsung expressed optimism about the future of the Naga people, adding that prayer, wisdom and unity remain key to overcoming challenges and building strong leadership.
He concluded by urging members not to take their responsibilities lightly and to remain committed to serving with integrity, vision and faith.
Earlier, NPF Central Youth Wing President Süpoyi Vezhü, in his welcome address, called for unity, discipline and vision among party members. He emphasised that politics is not merely about power but about purpose, responsibility and service to the people. He urged members to reflect on their roles and work collectively for the betterment of society.
Quoting Martin Luther King Jr., he reminded the gathering that despite differences, unity remains the foundation of progress. He further encouraged members to act with integrity, courage and humility in their leadership journey.
Short speeches were also delivered by Nüzota Swüro, Senior Vice President (COB i/c), and Imkongmar, Legislature i/c of the Central Youth Wing.
The programme featured a special number by Shenieta Chürha, Secretary, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Lhouvi Punyü, Working President. The benediction was pronounced by Achamo Kikon, Working President.
The event was chaired by General Secretary Aienla Longchar, with the invocation offered by Vice President Kezhavica Vüphrü.
