In line with its resolution to enforce a drug-free district, the Lotha Youth Hoho carried out checking operations across Wokha town, inspecting around 20 suspected houses. No illegal substances were recovered during the house-to-house checks.
However, during the drive, the team apprehended an alleged drug peddler identified as Sukumo, who was found in possession of a substance locally referred to as “Sunflower drug.” On questioning, he reportedly admitted that the supply was sourced from Mao Gate.
The Lotha Youth Hoho was accompanied by the Lotha Students’ Union, Wokha Village Youth Organisation, Longsa Youth, Niro Range Youth, and other civil society organisations during the operation.
The action follows the organisation’s earlier circular declaring Wokha a drug-free district and imposing a complete ban on the sale, possession, and distribution of illegal drugs and narcotic substances within its jurisdiction with effect from May 1, 2026.

As per the resolution, individuals involved in drug peddling would be barred from Wokha district for a period of five years. The organisation reiterated that strict measures, including fines and expulsion, will be enforced against violators.
The Lotha Youth Hoho stated that such surprise checking drives and patrols would continue in coordination with law enforcement agencies to curb the growing menace of drug abuse and ensure a safer community.
