The Bharatiya Janata Party Nagaland strongly condemned the alleged sexual abuse of a 14-year-old minor girl, and said crimes against children are among the gravest violations of human dignity and must be met with the strongest response under the law.
BJP Nagaland noted that the accused has been arrested and that the anticipatory bail granted earlier has been revoked. It appreciated the prompt action taken by the concerned authorities and urged that the investigation be carried out thoroughly, fairly, and without delay so that justice is delivered in accordance with the law.
“At a time when such incidents continue to raise serious concerns about the safety and well-being of women and children, it is imperative that society stands united against all forms of abuse and exploitation,” it said.
The BJP also called upon community leaders, civil society organisations, and citizens to support efforts aimed at protecting children and ensuring a safe environment for every child to grow and thrive.

The BJP Mahila Morcha stated that the accused, O Watimeren Jamir (also known as Watimeren Jamir or O. Wati Jamir), a former President of the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU), former General Secretary of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), and a practising lawyer, is alleged to have grossly betrayed this position of trust and responsibility by subjecting the minor to repeated sexual abuse over an extended period.
The BJP Mahila Morcha, Nagaland asserted that any crime against women and children, especially a minor, is utterly unacceptable and would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Meanwhile, it commended the prompt and responsible actions taken by Child Helpline Dimapur, the Women Police Station, Dimapur, the Chang Union Dimapur (CUD), student organisations and all concerned citizens who ensured that the matter was brought to the attention of the authorities without delay.
The BJP Mahila Morcha, Nagaland, urged the investigating authorities to conduct a thorough, impartial, time bound, and fast track investigation so that the full truth is established and justice is delivered expeditiously.
It further emphasized that the identity and dignity of the minor victim must be strictly protected in accordance with the provisions of law, and that she and her family must be provided all necessary legal, medical, psychological, and rehabilitative support.
It also called for a comprehensive probe into all aspects of the case stating that no individual, irrespective of social standing, past positions, or influence, is above the law.
It also appealed to parents, guardians, educational institutions, churches, tribal organisations, student bodies, and civil society to remain ever vigilant and to strengthen mechanisms for the safety and protection of children, particularly those studying away from their families.
Informal guardianship arrangements must be made far more accountable and secure to prevent any recurrence of such tragic incidents, it added.
