NPF Wokha division holds public meeting for upcoming ULB bye-election

The Naga People’s Front (NPF), Wokha Division, convened a public meeting attended by party workers and residents of Ward No. 8 (Tsumang B) at the VDBs & WDVCC Hall on Wednesday in preparation for the upcoming Urban Local Body (ULB) by-election.

The meeting was graced by NPF secretary general Achumbemo Kikon; Mhathung Yanthan, MLA and Advisor; Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe, MLA; and Dr. Chumben Murry, Advisor and senior vice president of the Central Office Bearers, NPF.

The programme was chaired by L Meribemo Kinghen, president of NPF Wokha Division, while Dr T Thungchibemo Humtsoe, general secretary of NPF 38 AC, delivered the keynote address. Short speeches were also given by Myingthungo Kikon, chairperson of WTC, and Ar. Aling Lotha, the NPF candidate for Ward No. 8.

Expressing gratitude to party workers and leaders for their trust, Ar. Aling Lotha sought support for the ensuing ULB by-poll, assuring to work for the welfare of his ward and the community if elected. He highlighted his professional background as an architect, pledging to contribute his expertise to town planning wherever required.

Achumbemo Kikon underscored that NPF’s strength lies at the grassroots level, noting that the party carefully studied applications before awarding the ticket to Lotha. He urged voters to make wise decisions for their welfare, reminding that NPF is the second oldest regional party in India, having celebrated its diamond jubilee last year. He emphasized the party’s role in safeguarding both the interests of the people and the Constitution of India, asserting that only a regional platform can truly protect the rights of its citizens.

Dr Chumben Murry extended best wishes to the candidate, describing him as well-suited to contribute to town planning. He appealed to the youth of Tsumang Colony to engage in politics constructively, stressing unity and cooperation for the progress of Wokha town.

Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe reminded the gathering that every vote counts, expressing confidence that the NPF candidate would secure a decisive victory. He encouraged faith in the party’s leadership under Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio.

Mhathung Yanthan highlighted the importance of electing the right candidate to strengthen the party and advance town development. He urged residents to think beyond immediate needs and support a comprehensive master plan for Wokha’s growth, asserting that Ar. Aling Lotha was the right person at the right moment. He appealed to the public and voters to extend support to the party candidature in the by-poll election.

The meeting concluded with calls for peace, cooperation, and collective effort to ensure progress and development in Wokha, the heart of the Lotha community, appealing to display and exercise healthy democracy in the upcoming ULB by-poll.
